I remember when I first heard the news about this episode, and I was so looking foward to it for the andorians and the continuation of the andorian/vulcan conflict. I just watched it tonight, and this episode made me feel like I was back in the '90s, when trek was somthing to look foward to every week. It was the best episode of the season by far.
First off, as much as I don't like Soval, I really liked how he was a "Main" character this time. I really liked his Heart to Heart chat with T'pol about why she is still with Enterprise and not back in SF having her own diplomat job. However, something that erked me was that they didn't mention her last week. They talk about arrogence and emotion, but I was talking back to my TV answering soval's claims with "Like you guys last week." Talk about arrogence and bigotry and lack thereof. One thing about him that might have been a descrepinsy, was when he was shot. Torah (Suzi Plakson) said that there was no stun setting, so shouldn't he have been killed? I didn't get that.
Second, and speaking of Suzi plakson, it was great to see her in a trek episode again. She is my favorite guest actress and tonight was not different. In fact, I hope her rebellion makes this storyline more interesting, it reminds me of the Klingon Federation conspiracy from "The Undiscovered Country." God I can't wait for the next time we have an andorian episode because all three have been really really good. Jeff Combs as usual never ceases to amaze me.
As for the slowness of the episode I keep reading, I disagree. This episode was a quick hour, and I was into it all the way through. I loved the "Overly middlesome comment." Great line from someone who is a skeptic.
I also liked the touch of the Tactical alert, but what good was it. What is the difference between Tactical, and Red alert anyway?
Over all, well done Chris Black. Thanks for giving us a totally sweeps-feel episode. Over all grade: A+
