First thing, this forum is the reason why we all should try and recruit others. I mostly come to trek messege boards talk about my favorite series but I can't when its forum is dead Anyway, last night I was watching Chain of Command (On DVD of course) and it seems like every time I watch it, the more I like Captain Jellico. I always thought he was a pregnant dog of a captain, but after last night he actually is a really good captain. It was Riker who was the pregnant dog. For one thing, even though Jellico is really strict, he is your average family man. Just look at how he decorated the ready room. BTW, he has doesn't have time to give the crew a "chance," but he has time to decorate the ready room. Just out of cariousity, everytime people talk about this episode, they remember it for the "THERE ARE FOUR LIGHTS" line, but did anyone like part one? I actually think the first part is desperately underrated.

From an administrative standpoint, Jellico was an excellent captain, but from a leadership standpoint he was sorely lacking. He did nothing to inspire the trust and confidence of his crew, an attitude of "Do it," instead of "Let's do this together." Nothing is given to say he wasn't a complete pr*ck to his family as well... Even Sisko, who was not the natural leader like Kirk or the inspiring commander like Picard, had the aura of command and a cool, stolid demeanor that made you believe in him and want to follow his lead. He trusted his people and welcomed their input.
