Well, I was looking foward to this movie for about a month, and today I was able to see the first showing. Overall, I thought it was just ok, but too action orianted. Below, is basically things I liked and didn't like about this movie:
Positives
One thing I did like was stewart, as usual carried this movie with a great performance by Tom Hardy as Shinzon. I thought both had great chemistry, and just overall it was great to see. Another thing I loved was that this movie took one thing from TNG that makes it my favorite series, the theme of family. I loved how throughout the movie, family was the main focus and thought it was cool that they finally took a TNG theme for one of thier movies. The final thing I liked was the Argo and that entire scene. That is one cool vehicle, and it looked like Stewart was having a little bit of fun with that scene. Another postitive was the end credits and being able to here the Motion Picture theme song. Boy did that bring back great memories.
Negatives
One of the things that bothered me about this film was how flawed it was. One example was when the Enterprise E was ramming the weapon ship. Why wasn't ENT E distroyed. I mean we have this unstoppable weapon ship, and then when the enterprise comes, the ship gets torn apart like a fly. Another flaw was when Data "Flew" to the other ship, that was quite a distance, and it looked so unrealistic.
Also, another major thing that bothered me was how they dealt with Data's Death. I almost felt insulted that the crew seemed to rub off the death of data just like that, mean no homage, no emotional scene, and don't tell me that "Toast" was the scene because it wasn't enough. I mean here is one of the most popular characters in all of trekdom (Kind of like the spock of TNG) who finished his quest to be more than he was, and there is no homage to that at all. If you are a TNG fan and watched Data grow thoughout the series, were you insulted at this?
Overall, like I said it was just ok, and if I were to grade it, I would give it a C.
In ranking the movies now that I have seen Nemesis, from best to worst:
The Undiscovered Country
The Wrath of Kahn
The Voyage Home
First Contact
Nemesis
Final Frontier
Generations
The Motion Picture
Insurrection
The Search for Spock
