I was just wondering if anyone could recommend great scifi (Or action scifi) movies from the last 30 years. One of my favorite movies of all time is Total Recall, and I was wondering if there are other movies out there that are as exciting as that or a movie I saw earlier this year which also ranks up there, Minority Report. I have heard of like Forbidden Planet, and The Day the Earth stood still, and Logens Run, but are there any others?

You wanna know what the greatest sci-fi film (that is if you like drama more than action) of all time is? 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) It has Gary Lockwood in it, who if you don't know played Lt. Commander Gary Mitchell on the original Star Trek episode Where No Man Has Gone Before, and Keir Dullea. Most movie critics even agree that this is the Greatest Science Fiction Film of All-Time
The movie is about these two astronauts on the spaceship Discovery and their computer HAL 9000 malfunctions, and the computer threatens the astronauts. The whole movie is worth it gdog, especially the light show at the end.

I am not saying it was a bad movie, I like the whole imagination of it, but it was too slow for my taste.

2001, IMHO, great flick if you have the time to see it through undisturbed so you can figure out what the f**k Kubrick was implying with the imagery. Best thing to do is see it then read Arthur C. Clarke's novel, and it all makes sense. Add the original "Godzilla" and "Them!" to the lists I've given you, gdog.

I would recommend Akira as a good sci fi movie, filled with action, little romance, and one of the most unpredictable endings in a sci fi movie ever!
I would also recommend Gunbuster Aim for the top, technicly not a movie, a six part mini series, and probably the best piece of sci fi I've ever made, also the humans are actually the bad guys in it!
