The death count in the fire at The Station in Warwick, Rhode Island is up to 96 as of this morning. I'm not a big Great White fan, though I do like their stuff that I've heard, but someone had to be pretty stupid to decide they could use the pyro in what looks to have been a VERY small club. The club says the band didn't have permission to use the sparklers, the road manager says they did. Other clubs the band has played at along the tour claim the band used the pyro without permission at their places as well. From the video that's been shown, the place doesn't look much bigger than the places I used to play at. Definitely not enough room for dangerously flammable effects. Even the venerable Toad's Place in New Haven does not allow pyro, and that's a club that holds about 800. The Station reportedly had a capacity of approx. 350. Sheer stupidity on someone's part, and it looks like Great White is going to be paying a very heavy price for it.
