I finally saw Attack of the Clones over the weekend. Though it was surprisingly long for a Lucas movie (almost 2 hrs 20 min), I didn't find it so bad as everyone paints it to be. Yes, the acting isn't so great, but outside of TESB, no Star Wars movie would ever win an Oscar for best performance. I think the main reason people didn't like AOTC is because there's no happy ending like most other Star Wars films, again except for TESB. Episodes I, IV and VI all end with celebrations. And there can be no happy ending expected for Ep. III either. Consider this, Episode II has started the downspiral of the tone of the whole trilogy. The Clone Wars have begun. Anakin is beginning to succumb to the Dark Side. The Jedi know evil is afoot. The following events are a lock for Episode III: 1) Anakin turns to the Dark Side, becomes Darth Vader, has confrontation with Obi-Wan. 2) The Jedi are massacred, survivors go into hiding. 3) Senator Palpatine reveals himself to be Darth Sidious, seizes complete power, declares himself Emperor. 4) Luke and Leia are born (At least Leia is born without Anakin's knowledge), Amidala flees to Alderaan with Leia and Viceroy Bail Organa, Luke is brought to Tatooine by Obi-Wan and placed in the care of Anakin's half-brother Owen Lars and his wife Beru. 5) The Republic falls. Not exactly a warm and fuzzy movie on tap, but it can be a moving piece if Lucas passes the director's job to someone who can make the most of it.

I love movies not so happy endings, thats why I love anime. So it's not that, that ruined the movie for me, I just found it dull, crap love story, crap predictable plot, crap special effect (Lucas even said after ep 1 that the next movie wouldn't be filled the cgi crap, yet it was). It was just a bad movie in my opinion, could of been so good, but wasn't!
