New to the Novels

I have been hearing alot of cool things about the DS9 relaunch novels coming out later this year. I was thinking of getting into the trek books. Are there any suggestions on where to start.

If you can find any of the old Bantam Books releases, such as "The Starless World," "World Without End," "Vulcan!" or "Spock, Messiah!" grab them. They are some of the oldest (from the mid-1970's) but among the best.
Those were the days if you got a new Trek novel every six months you were doing good!
Otherwise, find the "Star Trek Logs" series by Alan Dean Foster (Ballantine/Del Rey Books). These are the adaptations of the Animated Series. In the later books Foster adds a lot of his own material to the story.

I happen to own those novels of which you speak starbase and you are absolutely correct. They are fabuluos reading. My favorite from that time would have to be Vulcan. Kathleen Sky did an excellent job with that one. I have aquired several more books over the years and they now take up many shelves in my room. I have read and reread them over and over again. I have just aquired 4 more novels, although truth be told I had already had them but wanted them in hardcover. I haven't read the DS9 relaunch series yet, but I am sure that I will indeed do just that. I am a big promoter of reading. The tv is nice and all but reading allows you to use the one in your head and the images are ones you create and I think thats pretty awesome as well.
